"Marunouchi KITTE" opened in 2013 as the first commercial facility undertaken by Japan Post.
On the 6th floor lies the spacious rooftop garden "KITTE Garden," covering approximately 1,500 square meters, where you can observe Tokyo Station building and the shinkansen and trains arriving and departing within the station. When I visited during twilight hours, I lost track of time just watching the succession of bullet trains pulling into the station.
The illuminated Tokyo Station, the well-organized Tokyo Station Marunouchi Plaza, and the window lights of Marunouchi's buildings create a truly beautiful scene. This is definitely a night view spot worth visiting when you're at Tokyo Station. The magic hour just after sunset was particularly stunning, with the sky's gradation combining with the station's lighting to create exceptional beauty.
The rooftop garden features beautifully maintained lawns with subtle footlights creating a lovely atmosphere. There were many couples and families all enjoying the night views in their own way. I highly recommend this free observation deck for dates.
While the facility itself remains open until 11:00 PM, Tokyo Station's illumination only lasts until 9 PM, so visiting a bit earlier is recommended.
